temporarily certified death
Every once in a while I get an email about some aspect of the estate process that I missed. What can I say? I’m only human—and I’m not even a lawyer at that. I’m more than willing to accept outside help.
The other day one of you shared an especially interesting tip: if your parents’ deaths are under investigation—that is, the coroner or medical examiner needs to take a closer look—you can ask them for a temporary death certificate. That way you can begin working on the legal and financial stuff while the official cause of death is in limbo.
For your sake, I hope that your parents’ deaths are not under investigation. But just in case, I’ve updated the death certificates section accordingly.
