My dead parents are being edited

Developmental edits are finished, which means the final text is mostly in place. Recently the copy editor sent over her edits. Those are more nitty-gritty things—grammar, style, points of potential confusion, etc. As of last week, I’ve returned my edits to her edits, and now I’m in waiting mode again.

One big concern I’ve had over the past few weeks is the current presidential administration and its billionaire stooges. I recommend several government resources in the book, and I’m worried that an unelected group of misanthropic dorks named after an outdated meme will slash those resources.

There’s still time to change the text of the book if need be, but I hope I don’t have to—not for my sake, but for the sake of people who need those resources! All I can do is make it as accurate as possible as of the early 2026 publication date.

But it’s frustrating that I can’t guarantee its accuracy. And it’s even more frustrating that what little safety our government provided us is falling apart because some emerald mine heir has a chip on his shoulder.
